The Joseph G. Brosmer Collection documents pro-grower, anti-union activities in the agricultural industry, primarily in the state of California during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The types of documents include personal correspondence with growers and other consultants, copies of labor contracts and collective bargaining agreements, anti-union newsletters, notes from grievance meetings, transcripts of court testimony, arbitration case documents, and related records. The Collection is divided into two series: Growers and Affiliated Organizations (1949-1996) and Agricultural Workers Unions and Affiliated Organizations (1948-1973).
Series I, Growers and Affiliated Organizations, consists primarily of Brosmer's consultant case files, including major growers such as DiGiorgio Fruit Corporation, E & J Gallo Winery Ranch, Mont La Salle Vineyards, Schenley Industries, Inc. and Talisman Sugar Corporation. The series also includes materials related to grower support groups. This series is arranged alphabetically.
Series II, Agricultural Workers Unions and Affiliated Organizations, consists of reports, flyers, newsletters, correspondence, pamphlets and other material related to the unionization of agricultural workers in the state of California. This series is arranged alphabetically.
