Name: Los Angeles School Library Association

Historical Note: The Los Angeles School Library Association (LASLA) was established in 1914 as the Association of City School Librarians. It was created by the librarians of the Los Angeles city school system, including Ella Morgan, California's first school librarian. Predating the American Library Association's School Library Section as well as the California School Library Association, LASLA has inspired the formation of other professional organizations dedicated to excellence in school librarianship.
