Fred M. Greguras is a former United States Marine who served in Vietnam in 1970 with Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment. While he is currently employed as a partner at a law firm in California, he also has researched and written a number of histories about U.S. Marines. The collection contains three histories written by Greguras on the locations of U.S. Marines in various areas of China before and during World War II, and the current status of those areas, based on research and multiple trips taken by Greguras to China during the 2000s.
Scope and Contents: The Fred M. Greguras Collection consists of three histories of United States Marines in China before and during World War II, which focus on identifying the locations of U.S. Marines stationed in various areas in China and how those locations have changed in modern times. This includes research on Marine involvement in the Boxer Rebellion in Peking (Beijing) in 1900, the Fourth Marine regiment stationed in Shanghai from 1927 to 1941, and the Marine presence in Tientsin (Tianjin) immediately prior to World War II.
