Biographical Information:
John Brown was an abolitionist who moved with his family to Kansas Territory in 1855 so he could participate in the fight to keep Kansas from becoming a slave state. He had twenty children, seven by his first wife, Dianthe Lusk, and thirteen by his second wife, Mary Anne Day. He was executed in 1859 after his capture by Union troops for seizing the armory at Harper's Ferry, Virginia.
