Northeast Valley Oral History Project Collection
Scope and Contents
The Northeast Valley Oral History Project Collection documents the life experiences of individuals who grew up or settled in northeast San Fernando Valley cities, such as Pacoima, Sylmar, Lake View Terrace, Arleta, and San Fernando. The collection notably contains a number of interviews documenting the experiences of the African American community in the San Fernando Valley, including discussions of changing community demographics, various African American owned businesses in the community, race relations, and others' attitudes towards African Americans in the workplace and daily life.
The collection is divided into two series, Audio Recordings (2002) and Transcriptions (2002). Interviews were recorded onto audiocassettes, and most have been transcribed.
