Loris Bulla Diary

 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: SC-LBD

Abstract

Loris Bulla lived in Los Angeles in the late 1910s, and began writing this diary days after she became engaged to her boyfriend Bill. Bill was a college graduate working at Standard Oil Company's plant in El Segundo. Shortly after their engagement he enlisted in the Army. Loris writes of occasionally visiting him at Camp Kearny, and about her sadness that they cannot be together while he serves in the Army. She writes often of her social activities at home in Los Angeles, including dinners with friends in Pasadena, visiting Busch Gardens, driving across "the big Arroyo Seco Bridge past the Eagle Rock," going to see Ferris Hartman act in a musical comedy called Mary's Lamb, attending other shows at the Pantages, and more.
