Ellwood C. Noll World War II Correspondence Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection contains correspondence and a few greeting cards, postcards, receipts and invoices. The correspondence begins in 1939 to 1943 with letters to Ellwood C. Noll from friends and family prior to his service in the United States Army. Then, the correspondence continues from 1944 to 1946 with the bulk of the letters from Ellwood to his wife, Geraldine, including a few letters from other family members and friends to Geraldine. The letters from Ellwood to Geraldine discuss his work duties and daily activities in the United States Army during World War II. Topics discussed include the weather, meals, guard duty, physical activities like building tents, and requests for items like candy and medical supplies. The letters are organized chronologically according to the date letter was written (not the date the letter was post marked).
