Scope and Contents

The Joseph R. Cone China Marines Collection contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and newsletters documenting the experiences of United States Marines in China post-World War II. The materials especially cover the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions and their service in North China. This includes 2nd Marine Division anniversary and reunion materials, including China Marine Association reunion programs. There are also reflective materials related to the 1st Marine Division C-1-5 stationed in Tangku and Hsin Ho, including a run of C-1-5 Chian Marine newsletters. There are also clippings from the North China Marine and Peiping Chronicle.

Biographical / Historical

Joseph R. Cone served in the United States Marines in Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. He passed away on September 3, 2020.
