She began her classes at CSUN when it was initially a satellite campus for Los Angeles State College, which is indicated on one of her term papers. The blue books and other papers then demonstrate the name change to San Fernando Valley State College. Billie ultimately went on to get her teaching credential and a B. A. in English from California Lutheran College in Thousand Oaks. She taught preschool while obtaining her degree and later became a high school English teacher in Newbury Park, California. Billie Dahlquist passed away in 2009. He daughter Ann stated that Billie talked fondly of her time at San Fernando Valley State College, loved teaching, and was an expert in poetry and literature.
