The Industrial Association of the San Fernando Valley Collection documents the establishment and development of the Association and the corresponding growth of the San Fernando Valley. The bulk of the material consists of minutes and correspondence files. There are also a considerable number of oversize maps and charts. Administrative records such as by-laws, articles of incorporation, rosters, financial reports, newsletters, ordinances, press releases, resolutions, reports and speeches are also included in the collection. The collection is arranged in six series: Administrative Records (1950-1980), Records of the Board and Executive (1952-1980), Correspondence Files (1952-1981), Association Activities (1951-1978), General Subject Files (1952-1984), and Non-Manuscript Material (1915, 1950-1980).

Series I, Administrative Records, is comprised of the Association's organizational and housekeeping records such as by-laws, articles of incorporation, reports, membership rosters, press releases and related materials documenting the history and procedures of the organization. The files are arranged in alphabetical order and chronologically within file series.

Series II, Records of the Board and Executive, documents the interests and concerns of the Association. Minutes comprise the bulk of the records. The series also contains meeting agendas, attendance lists, biographies of guest speakers, and notices of meetings. The files are grouped by originator and arranged in chronological order.

Series III, Correspondence Files, is divided into letters received and sent, memorandums, and inter-organizational correspondence. Each grouping is arranged chronologically.

Series IV, Association Activities, contains materials produced by the IASFV, and consists of certificates of appreciation, summaries of industrial property activity, property descriptions, and rosters of the content of Arthur Aston's notebooks. The resolutions, reports, speeches, testimonies, and fact sheets included within this series discuss such topics as the Nordhoff-Winnetka Industrial Area, San Fernando Valley College, Railroad Grade Separation, Sun Valley Gravel Pits, the Van Norman Dam, and Zoning. The files are arranged alphabetically by subject.

Series V, General Subject Files, includes materials created by other organizations. This series contains minutes, subject reports, tour reports, city ordinances, bills, laws, charters, Los Angeles City Plan cases, planning publications, newsletters, speeches, fact sheets, environmental impact reports, resolutions and related documentation on the San Fernando Valley. The materials found within this series touch on the topics found in SERIES IV as well as the Los Angeles Aqueduct, land use, population estimates, nuclear power, Tampa Avenue Grade Crossing, water and power, and Destination 90. The files are arranged alphabetically by subject.

Series VI, Non-Manuscript Material, includes oversized items and audio-visual materials.
