Scope and Contents
Handwritten journal by 16-year-old William O'Brien Pardow of a vacation to Sodus Bay, New York. Includes tipped-in folded map and handwritten title page with date in Roman numerals and titles of author's previous writings. On lined paper with printed numbers to 288; journal ends on page 263. Inscribed to Walter Cook from W.O'B.P., September 1, 1864. Walter Cook is William Pardow's traveling companion. Their journey includes transportation by carriage, the Albany boat, and New York Central Railroad Company. Vacation activities include hunting birds and game, fishing, and playing cribbage.
