Donald Hiram Stilwell Photograph Collection

Abstract Donald Hiram Stilwell served in the Navy from 1908-1912 as an enlisted man and was posted in Asia for most of his enlistment. From 1912-1917, he worked in a naval shipyard in Maryland. In 1917 he rejoined the Navy, serving in the Atlantic area near France. He was discharged in 1918. The collection consists of photographs and postcards acquired by Donald H. Abstract

The Stephan E. Stuart Collection briefly documents the journey of a German Jewish émigré as he travels first from German occupied France to neutral Portugal and finally to the United States.This small collection contains a broad array of documentation, including old school records, several newspaper clippings, and documentation of his military service. Materials cover the period from 1930-1979 with emphasis on the period from 1930-1945.

A Submariner's Album in the Far East

Abstract

This photograph album documents the experiences of a British submariner aboard the HMS L4 between 1922 and 1923. The album contains nearly 150 photographs with handwritten descriptions, including more than fifty images of Hong Kong,with a sequence of photographs depicting celebrations for the Prince of Wales visit in 1922, a group of images related to the King's birthday, and many street scenes.

The Sun Valley Woman's Club was a regional chapter of a women led, community based volunteer organization. It operated under the Sierra-Cahuenga District of the California Federation of Women's Clubs, an affiliate of the international General Federation of Women's Clubs. The Club filed for dissolution in 1997. The Sun Valley Woman's Club Collection documents the dissolution of the organization.
