The San Fernando Valley Audubon Society Records consist of administrative records, publications, photographs, and ephemera documenting the evolution of regional bird populations, environmental conservation efforts, and ornithology culture in the San Fernando Valley.

Carl Sandburg (1878-1967) was a contemporary American poet, author, musician, well-known Abraham Lincoln scholar, and winner of three Pulitzer Prizes. The materials in the collection primarily document events featuring or celebrating Carl Sandburg’s career, including correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, scrapbooks, personal and press photographs, record albums, autographed memorabilia and ephemera, and writings by and about Carl Sandburg.

John B. Sawyer was American Vice Consul in Shanghai, China, from 1921 to 1938. The collection consists of photographs Sawyer took of China while stationed in Shanghai.

The Lee C. Schlegel World War II Collection documents the experiences of United States Army soldier, Lee Cyrus Schegel, whose enlistment period spanned the first three years of United States involvement in World War II. The collection consists of approximately two-hundred photographic prints, a scrapbook, two diaries, and a small amount of personal papers.

Eric J. Schmidt taught at the Shanghai American School and was interned by the Japanese in the Chapei camp outside of Shanghai during World War II. The collection contains drawings and photographs depicting life at Chapei camp, an oral history interview with Schmidt, and scenes filmed in Shanghai and the surrounding area post-World War II.
